Easter in Florence - Explosion Of The Cart (Scoppio del Carro)

I arrived in Florence on Easter weekend. My roommates and I took the bus to the Duomo, had delicious pastries and cappuccini at a nearby cafe and watched the festivities for hours in the cold wind. We were the only ones wearing dresses on Easter. All of the Italians were wearing jeans and cool jackets. Allora, so much for pastel. I remember it being very cold that day.

I saw oxen wearing flower headdresses and olive branches...

Flag throwing...

Little drummer boys...

Men in tights?

And an exploding cart! Buona Pasqua! The dove was blessed by the priest and flew back into the church, so it should be a good year...
